Spotlight: WORSHIP THIS!
Interview by Steven Bushong
Weapons of Mass Creation Fest performers Worship This! released their debut full-length record, Tomorrow, I’ll Miss You, through A-F Records in May. In support of the release, the Akron-based indie-punk outfit joined Anti-Flag on select dates of their “20 Years of Hell” tour, celebrating two decades of Anti-Flag. We asked singer and guitarist Jeremy Provchy to share some thoughts about his band and the festival. Kindly, he obliged.
Congratulations on your debut full-length album! Was it rough to create?
Quite the contrary, it was a blast to make! We had an awesome time writing it and we’re really excited about it.
Did you have any anticipatory thoughts about Weapons of Mass Creation Fest?
Will there be circle pits?!?!
For newer bands, do you have words of advice about being a band, not killing each other and landing cool shows like WMC Fest?
I guess as far as advice, a band is a relationship with usually 3 + more people that you will be spending tons of time with so treat everyone with the same respect you would in any other aspect of your life and HAVE FUN! Landing cool shows will come when you find your niche and make friends.
Every time you play, what thoughts cross your mind?
Lately when we’re playing shows I’m really stoked about how talented the younger folks are. These kids are like 17-19 years old and they just shred. It’s really inspiring to see how dedicated these kids are.
If you had to pick between playing with Red Hot Chili Peppers or Ozzy Osbourne, who would you choose and why?
I imagine we’d pick Ozzy. We’ve got some metal in our past and I feel like Ozzy would be a rad guy to meet.
I understand your band likes inside jokes. Please leave us clueless with the punchline to a favorite.
A closing argument, please:
